Great modern food, superb value for money, nice service and good wines.
Amazing. I rarely go to a restaurant a second time when I’m traveling, let alone twice in three days. This place is so good. The food is inventive and so tasty. The staff are so pleasant and efficient but they don’t rush you. While the menu is small each item down to the amuse bouche is incredible. Wine list is great and even single glasses have great options. GO GO GO
Le Bouchon Bordelais was wonderful! My friends and I had a delicious meal, and went with the three course option. There are ~4 options per course, but I didn’t find this limited. My understanding is the menu changes regularly. The service was wonderful, and the ambiance can’t be beat. I indicated in the reservation that I needed gluten free considerations and upon our arrival they walked me through the menu and the chef even prepared an off-menu dessert for me and it was probably the best dessert I’ve ever had! Definitely recommend visiting if you’d like a nice, relaxed French meal in a cozy bistro setting!!
Let me start by saying, this was hands down one of the best meals I have ever eaten in my entire life.. I came here on my trip to France with my mother and we decided to treat ourselves to the authentic French restaurant experience. Reservations are a must, and I highly recommend you fully immerse yourself to the house course as a meal. Most often, we had little idea what was being served to us, but everything was mouthwateringly delicious. Complements to the chef and staff, who meticulously cared for us and payed attention to every minute detail of our dishes. This was one of our biggest highlights on our trip and the memories will last a lifetime. Thank you for a magical experience!
Wonderful experience from start to finish! We were very lucky to get a table as we hadn’t booked, but got in just in the nick of time! Delicious food, friendly and charming waiter and just the right balanced of relaxed and fancy.
Excellent, interesting and delicious modern bistro cookery and fantastic service.
I visited here with my partner on the second night (a Friday) of our 3 night break in Bordeaux. We had done some research and this looked like a great place, so booked a table at 2030 a number of weeks in advance. I'm glad we did, because it was full when we visited, albeit this is a relatively compact and bijou bistro. We were served by a couple of waiting staff and Marin, the gourmet manager; all 3 were very friendly, helpful and oozed hospitality (despite them appearing immensely busy).
We started with a couple of St Germain cocktails (containing, if I can recall correctly, St Germain, lemon juice, vodka and cremant de Bordeaux) - a perfect way to decide what to eat! We went for 3 courses each and with Marin's guidance plumped for a bottle of Graves to compliment everything.
The food was simply sublime! The nettle soup amouse bouche was fresh and savoury. We both had squash and carrot soup, which was rich and tasty, served with an embellished cream cheese on bread. My partner had pork chop au gratin with potatoes; this had notes of tartiflette, but was a more porcine affair - it may have been gratinated with reblochon. At any rate it was delicious. I had a north African inspired dish consisting of a spiced lamb stew, garnished with tomato, cream cheese, a mild pepper and topped with an egg - baked in the oven. This was many things, all of them excellent! Puddings of Chocalatherapie (a crisp, thin pastry case filled with many great chocolatey things) and cherry clafoutis rounded things off perfectly, especially as we accompanied them with a glass each of Sauternes.
I could not recommend this place highly enough, the whole evening was faltless and the bill seemed exceptional value (£150) for the quality of the experience that we had. I wish this place was on my doorstep, alas it is hidden slightly off the beaten track in Bordeaux - do seek it out!
Amazing food, wonderful hosts, great recommendations and a menu to serve most tastes. The staff spoke English, and was able to provide an English menu (which helps). The menu itself is small, but clearly this means they have mastered all...
They serve wine (obviously) by the bottle and by the glass (by the glass is displayed on the wall, just ask), they were kind enough to recommend based on our choice of meal what wine would suit us most. Not pretentious at all, very intimate and would definitely go again. Highly recommended.
My meal at Le Bouchon Bordelais was the highlight of my Bordeaux trip - well-crafted dishes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients, paired with Bordeaux wines, all at very reasonable prices. The best meal I had in Bordeaux! The staff were also very friendly and accommodating, explaining the menu in English to us.
